Finally I could find soemwhere to put my photos. So now I can put a photo of Haft Sin , which means seven things, that their name starts with the sound "s", besides some other things like Qoran, mirror, goldfish and .... Each of them is a symbol of something we wish to have in our life in the coming year. But something I like, which is not as poplular as the otehr ones is the orange in the bowl of water. (It is marked in the picture.) They say that anciant iranians believed that the earth is on a horn of a big bull. Just when the old year changes for the new year, the bull moves the earth from one horn to the otehr one! And this causes the orange to move in the water!
I hate war, too!
But something I hate more is the world we live in! It seems that we are in a very civilized age. But nothing has changed. Still the one who has more power is the winner. Is it called Jungle rule?!So many poeple say No War, so many countries say No War. But US does this because it is the most powerful country. Last night in Security Council Syria foreign minister lectured about Israel which for sure has atomic bombs but who says why? And what is the use of UN? I belive in that more and more that politics is such a nasty thing. Us dropped atomic bombs on Japan. Iraq killed many of our poeple. And now Japan supports US and Iran supports Iraq!

Now that Roya said something about Ashura I thought I'd say something as well! Actually recently I'd been thinking about it a lot . and I was thinking wether what we do in Moharam would've sound reasonable to other people or not. But these are very unclear questions because first what does reasonable mean? For example me, having a male roommate would sound crazy to my aunt, because she can't understand the circumstances, the way people live here, the way people grow up here....
The way we live, the way we talk, the way we eat, the way we behave, Our attitude depends on a lot of things, Even in the same city different families have different habbits and a lot of the times people don't think about the way they grow up, It just happens, because it's meaningless for most of the people unless we are forced to change it ( For example when we immigrate!!!) So the things we do is based on where we live, where we are born, education, a lot of things, even the weather condition!
Ashura is not just a habbit, it's not something that we've been doing for 10 years so that we could easily analize it and say :"Well, this is wrong!" or " We don't want to do it anymore!". It's been going on and on for 14 hundred years almost. So what people do in it or why we are doing this is not an easy question to answer ! It needs a lot of knowledge about a lot of things!
What could possibly make a group of people keeping something like this up for 1400 year? The answer doesn't seem obvious to me!
Notice that I don't say I think it's a good or bad thing to do. and I'm not very religious either but there might be something about it that cause all these passion all these years. I always liked it though.
But then it came to me that why everything we do has to be reasonable?!! We do it because we feel like we need to do it, We want to do it. Because it makes us happy anyway ! All these sadness makes us feel better, relaxed maybe ! It's part of who we are! What I'm trying to say is we didn't decide about it! But there is enough good things in it that we decide to keep it up!
I was searching for a photo about ashura on internet. But I was surprised that most of the pictures I found were from Pakistan. In the pictures, some poeple are beating their backs by swords. It's so disgusting and it causes a bad feeling in the ones who look at it. I know that some people still do it in Iran, but it is so rare. Here in Iran, poeple go in the streets, and in queues or circles they beat their chests by hands or beat their shoulders by a bunch of chains (it is not so heavy that hurts them) to the rhythmic verses someone reads, or what is done mostly in houses or mosques is that someone talkes about how Imam hosssein was killed and poeple cry. I like what webgard has said about crying and I also think that what people do in these days, is something that helps themselves. You can see that most of them are young boys. This is something that helps them free their energy and that is not bad. But I remember what Behnoud answered to the question that what was his opinion about suicide bombers who sometimes kill innocent children in Palestine. He said sometimes one wrong act ruins all the other hundred good things that you have done.
