Khordad (the third month in Iranian calender) arrived and I turned my calender to a new page. The peom is :

Lady of vineyards, we have seen you
Behind the net of the pine forest at day break
Tidying up eagle nests and shepherd huts
And orange blossoms shone upon your black burn out path
(Yannis Ritsos)

Yesterday I read "Girl With a Pearl Earring", by Tracy Chevalier (translation to Farsi by Goli Emami), a story about a dutch maid lived in seventeenth century in Vermeer's house.

sth that intersts me is that for her it was important to hide her hairs and as it is understood from the novel it was an important thing for people of middle class, for example when her lover wants to see her hairs she says: "I'm not like those women..."!!!

Here is a reading guide for this book, this is sth that Roya always wish we had about our books. Roya although we haven't any for Persian books but you can enjoy this case:).

These days I feel what the ones who prefer to leave Iran, feel! I have always loved my country. I have always liked to do something for my country. But something is so annoying these days. Everyday I want to leave home I should try all my uniforms to see which one is SAFER to wear! It shouldn't be short, it shouldn't be tight, it should have long sleeves!, it shouldn't be a light color,... .
Everyday when I want to enter university I should feel the stress, "what would the lady!! in front of the door tell me?, to cover my hair? to clean my make-up(which I never have)? ..."
(I think I should expalin more about that lady!, she seats just near the entrance door, she looks at every girl who enters, from head too feet!, and tries to find something wrong in you)
There was a program on TV about harasment of woemn in teh streets! At first I was happy, that finally they have considered such a problem in Iran. But you can guess what the program concluded at the end! It said all the problem is with women, with what they wear, with how they walk, with how they talk!!! So as many poeple have asked the police to handel this problem, they have decided to deal with that severely and arrest everybody whose appearence is not according to Islamic rules!
